So here it is my first blog on this site. As my About page says I am currently employed as one of the Senior System Administrators for the RAC ICT department. I have been there 12 years this coming August.
As with every organisation RAC has it’s challenges in IT. However as an organisation it does some truly impress things in the WA community. It’s road safety advocacy and community education is only a few simple ways it invests the money from it’s members back into the community.
After sustaining a Spinal Cord Injury (SCI) at the hands of careless driver I am very passionate about teaching road safety which means that RAC’s vision and my own are very closely aligned.
So with a full time job looking after IT for one of WA’s most prominent Member Based organisations why would I possibly want to spend my off work hours doing more work? Good question.
I love technology and have spent a great deal of time doing my own Research and Development in a home lab. I have learnt a great deal in the 20 years I have spent doing this. I also know that there is a real gap out there for people when it comes to general support or even seeking advise about IT things. Sure there are shops you can go into, or services that come out to your place to look at your PC issues. But I find it both inconvenient and intrusive. I much prefer to contact someone and have them fix the issue over the phone or via a chat session. It’s how we operate in enterprise level organisation. So why not make that service available and affordable to others?
So here I am offering my knowledge and expertise for those people out there who don’t have time to be sitting around waiting for someone to come out to them or don’t have the time (and yes lets face it the patience) to dismantle the PC and take it to shop.
Drop me a line if you need help. 🙂by
